Harbour Village Bonaire Review: Is It Worth the Price?

If you’re trying to decide whether Harbour Village Beach Club is worth the splurge for your Bonaire trip, my short answer is yes—if you’re the kind of traveler who will actually use what makes this resort special.

My boyfriend Tim and I stayed here on our first trip to Bonaire with two other couples and their toddlers, and it ended up being the perfect fit for the kind of trip we wanted.

We originally booked Harbour Village for the private beach, but what sold me once we arrived was how easy it made the whole week feel.

We could snorkel right from shore, grab lunch or drinks without leaving the property, book a boat excursion through the resort, and still get into Kralendijk or around the island easily whenever we wanted to explore.

Between the six adults in our group, we had scuba divers, casual snorkelers, first-time Bonaire visitors, parents traveling with toddlers, and a few people who’d stayed at other Caribbean resorts before.

By the end of the trip, I felt like we had a much better sense of who Harbour Village is actually worth booking for—not just whether it was beautiful.

Since Harbour Village is one of the pricier places to stay in Bonaire, I don’t think it’s the right fit for every traveler. But if you’re looking for a Bonaire resort with a swimmable beach, excellent snorkeling, a peaceful atmosphere, and a setup that works well for families, couples, and divers alike, I think it’s one of the best places to stay on the island.

In this Harbour Village Bonaire review, I’m sharing what our stay was like, what we loved most, what to know before booking, and whether I think it’s worth the price—especially for first-time visitors to Bonaire.

For our trip, yes—Harbour Village was absolutely worth it.

It was one of the biggest splurges of our trip, but it delivered on the things that mattered most to our group: a beautiful private beach, easy shore snorkeling, and a convenient location near Kralendijk.

If you want a beautiful place to come back to after snorkeling, diving, or sightseeing—and you’ll actually use the beach, pool, and resort amenities—I think Harbour Village is one of the best places to stay in Bonaire.

That said, I don’t think it’s worth the price for everyone.

I think Harbour Village is worth it if you:

• want one of the best beach setups in Bonaire
• care about snorkeling right from your resort
• are traveling with a mix of divers and non-divers
• want a quieter, more upscale resort near Kralendijk
• are traveling with kids and want a calm beach + pool setup

I’d probably skip it if you:

• are trying to keep your Bonaire trip as affordable as possible
• don’t care about beach access or spending time at the resort itself
• plan to be out diving or road-tripping all day, every day
• mostly just need a clean place to shower and sleep

When we first started planning our Bonaire trip, we knew we needed a hotel that would work for a pretty mixed group.

Tim and I were traveling with our friends Courtney, John, Jess, and Blake, and between all of us we had scuba divers, non-divers, first-time Bonaire visitors, seasoned Caribbean travelers, and two toddlers.

Jess was actually the one who found Harbour Village for us, and the more we looked into it, the more it seemed to check every box.

We wanted a place that felt relaxing enough for a full week but still practical as a base for exploring the island. And because Bonaire isn’t the kind of Caribbean destination where every resort comes with a wide, swimmable beach, Harbour Village immediately stood out.

On paper, it offered the balance we were looking for: a true resort feel, easy beach access, on-site dining, and a calm setup for the families in our group while still giving the divers and snorkelers what they wanted too.

It also checked a lot of practical boxes:

• a calm beach for the toddlers
• a pool
• on-site food and drinks
• dive options for the divers
• a convenient location near Kralendijk
• enough amenities that a resort day would feel intentional—not like a backup plan

Looking back, that’s exactly why Harbour Village worked so well for us. It wasn’t just where we stayed—it became a part of our vacation.

One of the first things I noticed about Harbour Village was how calm it felt.

Even though it’s one of the more well-known resorts in Bonaire, it never felt crowded or chaotic during our stay. The beach was quiet, the pathways around the property felt tucked away and tropical, and it was easy to settle into a slower rhythm almost immediately.

For a trip like ours, which included snorkeling, diving, scenic drives, boat excursions, dinners in town, and a couple of slower beach days, Harbour Village made it just as easy to spend a full day out exploring Bonaire as it was to stay put and enjoy the resort without feeling like you were wasting a day.

Our room felt more like a small apartment than a standard hotel room, which was a big plus for a weeklong trip.

We had a king bed, a large bathroom with both a shower and tub, a kitchen, a separate half bath, and a main living area that gave us a lot more space to spread out than we’d normally expect from a resort stay.

There was also a private balcony where Tim and I had coffee most mornings, one of my favorite little rituals of the trip.

The villa-style setup made Harbour Village feel especially practical for a longer Bonaire stay. It was nice to have room for snorkel gear, beach bags, and the general chaos that comes with an active trip.

Our friends’ room was even larger, with a second bedroom, another full bathroom, and an outdoor patio, which made a lot of sense for traveling with a toddler. If you’re coming to Bonaire as a family or with another couple, I can absolutely see the larger room options being worth a look.

That kind of setup isn’t the reason I’d book Harbour Village on its own, but it did make the resort feel more comfortable and livable than a standard beach hotel.

Harbour Village worked so well for our group because everything felt easy and walkable.

That might not sound especially exciting on paper, but when you’re traveling with toddlers, beach bags, snorkel gear, and a group of people all moving at slightly different speeds, convenience matters a lot.

We also appreciated that the resort put all three couples in rooms next to each other in the same villa (per our special request), just steps from the beach, which made the experience feel even more convenient.

We could meet up for breakfast, split off for snorkeling or beach time, and regroup later without anyone needing to trek across a huge property.

It also made a big difference for the families in our group when the toddlers needed an afternoon nap, since it was easy to head back to the room without turning it into a whole production.

The pool was close, the beach was close, and the resort as a whole felt manageable.

Harbour Village’s location was another big plus.

It was tucked away enough to feel peaceful, but we were still close enough to Kralendijk that going out to dinner or exploring town was easy.

We never felt stuck at the resort, which mattered because while we wanted plenty of beach and snorkeling time, we also didn’t come to Bonaire just to sit at one property all week (no shame here if that’s what you want to do though!).

We used Harbour Village as our home base while still spending time driving to restaurants, other snorkeling spots, and different parts of the island.

By the time we came back in the evenings, it felt noticeably quieter and more secluded again, which was exactly what I wanted after a busier day out.

There was also on-site parking, which made the resort feel even more practical as a base for exploring Bonaire by rental car.

The private beach is what first caught our attention, and after staying here I think it’s one of the biggest reasons Harbour Village stands apart from other resorts in Bonaire.

Bonaire is incredible for snorkeling and diving, but many shore entries around the island are rocky, and a lot of accommodations feel more functional than resort-focused.

Harbour Village felt like one of the few places that offered both.

The beach was beautiful and, at least during our stay, never felt crowded, and we found ourselves lingering here much longer than we expected.

We’d go for a swim, stretch out in a hammock with a book, watch the kiddos play in the sand, and before we knew it an entire afternoon had slipped by.

One of the biggest surprises of our Bonaire trip was how much I loved snorkeling at Harbour Village.

I’d had a few less-than-great snorkeling experiences in the past, so I wasn’t expecting the house reef here to become one of my favorite parts of the week—but it absolutely did.

The water was calm, visibility was excellent, and being able to walk straight from the beach into the water made it feel incredibly approachable.

Every time we got in, it felt like there was something new to spot—brightly colored fish, coral formations, and little marine creatures.

The house reef quickly became one of our favorite snorkeling spots of the week.

One of the toddlers even gave snorkeling a try here, which tells you a lot about how calm and accessible the setup was.

That convenience changed the value of the stay for me. If you’re looking for a Bonaire resort where you can snorkel without needing to book a boat trip every single day, Harbour Village absolutely delivers.

Harbour Village felt worth the splurge because we actually used the resort.

There were a couple of bigger sightseeing days built into our Bonaire itinerary, but we also intentionally left space to enjoy Harbour Village itself, and I’m really glad we did.

Those slower resort days ended up becoming some of my favorite memories of the trip.

We weren’t trying to squeeze in another snorkel stop or check another attraction off our list—we were simply enjoying where we were.

We spent afternoons rotating between beach chairs, hammocks, the water, and the pool, while the kids bounced happily between swimming and playing in the sand.

Those days reminded me why choosing the right hotel matters so much in a destination like Bonaire.

The resort itself became part of the vacation rather than just the backdrop for it.

We ended up at La Balandra, the on-site restaurant, quite a bit throughout the week.

We had lunch there a couple of times, grabbed drinks and snacks more than once, and ate dinner there one evening as well.

Jess and Blake also had a private romantic dinner there, which was included in their dive package.

That being said, I wouldn’t come to Harbour Village expecting an all-inclusive experience—it’s not that kind of resort, and food and drinks are an additional cost—but we appreciated having a solid on-site restaurant and bar for the moments when we didn’t want to leave the property.

We also booked a snorkeling boat excursion through Harbour Village, which gave us the chance to explore areas we couldn’t easily reach from shore.

The snorkeling itself was great, but what I remember most is how differently everyone in our group experienced the same outing.

Tim and I snorkeled, Jess helped her daughter try snorkeling again, John and Blake dove, Courtney relaxed on the boat with her daughter, and the kids loved watching their dads gear up and disappear underwater before eagerly waiting for them to pop back up again.

It was one of those moments that perfectly captured why this trip worked so well for our group.

Even though everyone had slightly different interests, Harbour Village gave us ways to enjoy the same day together without forcing everyone into the exact same version of the experience.

The resort also felt practical in smaller ways that added up over the course of a week. There was on-site parking, a dive shop on property, and a marina area that made it easy to head out for excursions.

We took a sunset sushi cruise from the dock area near Harbour Village one evening, which made the location feel even more convenient.

None of these amenities would have convinced me to book Harbour Village on their own. Together, though, they created the kind of resort experience we were hoping for.

If I had to sum up Harbour Village in one sentence, I’d say it’s one of the few Bonaire resorts I’d confidently recommend to a group with very different vacation priorities.

For Tim and me, it felt romantic without being overly formal and practical without feeling boring. For the families in our group, the calm beach, pool, and easy room-to-beach setup made the trip feel much lower-stress with toddlers in the mix.

From my perspective as someone traveling with toddlers rather than as the parent of one, Harbour Village felt like one of those rare places that genuinely made the trip easier for the adults without making the resort feel kid-centric.

The couples with children also booked a babysitter through the hotel a couple of times so the adults could go out to dinner, which was another nice perk for a longer trip.

And for our divers and non-divers, it struck a really nice balance: the boys had on-site dive options and packages, while Tim and I still got a ton out of staying there because there was just as much for us to enjoy above water as there was for the divers below it.

That balance is a huge part of why Harbour Village felt worth it to us. Nobody felt like they were just tagging along for someone else’s version of the trip.

As much as we loved Harbour Village, I do think there are a few things worth knowing before you book—especially if you’re trying to decide whether the price makes sense for your trip.

1. Harbour Village is expensive compared to many Bonaire stays

2. You’ll get more value from Harbour Village if you actually want resort time

3. I’d still recommend having a rental car

For our trip, yes.

The private beach, world-class snorkeling, relaxed atmosphere, and convenient location made it worth the splurge for our group.

Yes—this was one of the biggest highlights of our stay.

The house reef was one of our favorite snorkeling spots of the trip, and the calm water plus easy shore access made it especially enjoyable.

I think so, especially for families with younger kids.

The calm beach, pool, walkable layout, and easy access to both the room and resort amenities made it feel like a very low-stress place to stay with toddlers in the mix.

It can be a great option, especially for groups where some people dive and others don’t.

The dive packages were a big draw for the divers in our group, while the rest of us still had plenty to enjoy at the resort.

Yes, I think it’s an excellent first-trip option if it fits your budget.

The beach, snorkeling, resort amenities, and easy location make Bonaire feel very approachable for first-time visitors.

Looking back on our trip, staying at Harbour Village was one of the best decisions we made in Bonaire.

What impressed me most wasn’t just that Harbour Village was beautiful—it was how well it worked.

For a group of couples, toddlers, snorkelers, and divers all wanting slightly different things, it somehow managed to feel relaxing, practical, and genuinely special all at once.

If you’re looking for a place that combines one of Bonaire’s best beach experiences with a relaxing resort atmosphere, I think it’s absolutely worth considering—especially for a first trip to Bonaire.
